You’ve decided which building offers the best mix of ease of access and parking options and you drive up to take a meeting with a leasing consultant for your first choice of address.  What are the questions you should ask to guide you in making the right choice?

1- What are my options for future space? You may not think you will need it in the near future, but you must prepare for the successful venture you are about to go into. It’s positive thinking, but it may be necessary in the future to expand and moving buildings could disrupt your business.

2 – What’s the mix of tenants in the building? Try to learn about your potential neighbors. The ideal is to move into a space that compliments your business, not competes.

3 – How do I contact you? This is critical for emergencies and other issues.

4 – What other services do you offer? Killing two, three or even four birds with one provider makes life much easier. If you’ve done your homework, then you have found a competent provider for many profit-making services.

5 – What are the terms of the lease? Make sure you understand every aspect of the contract you are about to sign. It is imperative that you get everything in writing. This will, again, make your life easier. Be wary of any provider that doesn’t offer a contract for services.
