Does Working From Home Really Work?

Does Working From Home Really Work?

No dress code, no commute, flexible hours – sounds like a pretty good job description, right? It’s true – these are some of the perks of working from home, but more studies are finding it might not be so great to work from home after all.

From feelings of isolation to an increase in stress, working from home can have all kinds of negative implications for professionals.

Stress From Home

A recent study from Pennsylvania State University found people are more stressed at home than they are at work. At home, workers often feel pulled in too many directions and report difficulty separating work time from personal time. Home-based workers often log more hours, too, than those who work outside their homes, which can lead to burn-out.

And it might not be ideal for your business’ bottom line, either. Several studies have found workers to be less productive and more distracted when working from home rather than in an office setting. (If you’ve ever tried to draft a proposal or conduct a call with your children or dog in the background, you can relate all too well!)

At Amata, many of our clients have come to us after finding working from home simply didn’t work for them – personally or professionally. Although our office space is considered “shared office,” one tenant joked Amata isn’t a shared office – having your office double as a dining room is!

Now What?

If you’re starting to reconsider working from home, we’d love to talk about the shared office solutions we can offer you and your business. Visit us at www.amatacorp.com, or connect with Amata on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. We look forward to hearing from you (even if your dog is barking in the background).

Until next time,
